PMAC held first meeting of Expert Committee Members The Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) held its first meeting of Expert Committee members on 19 December 2024, marking the start of collaborative work on key topics. The first meeting of the PMAC Expert Committee members took place on 19 December 2024. The session was moderated by Mr Aleš Zalar, Director of PMAC. Following brief introductions of each member, Mr Zalar presented the state of play of PMAC, setting the stage for discussions on the organization’s priorities and structure.A key focus of the meeting was the establishment of five working groups tasked with addressing specific topics critical to the development of PMAC’s operations:Working group on Rules of MediationMembers: Ms Gordana Ristin, Ms Petra Asperger, Mr Malik Chapuis, Mr Simon Dack and Mr Cristiano Bacchini.Working group on Rules of ArbitrationMembers: Ms Maija Tipaine, Mr Vítor Pamela Fidalgo, Mr Thomas Klippstein, Mr Malik Chapuis, Mr Simon Dack, Mr Cristiano Bacchini and Mr Pierfrancesco Fasano.Working group on Fee SchedulesMembers: Ms Lina Mickiene, Ms Petra Asperger, Mr Thomas Klippstein, Mr Håkan Borgenhäll, Mr Malik Chapuis and Mr Pierfrancesco Fasano.Working group on Code of Conduct and Qualification Criteria for NeutralsMembers: Ms Gordana Ristin, Ms Maija Tipaine, Ms Petra Asperger, Ms Lina Mickiene, Mr Håkan Borgenhäll, Mr Malik Chapuis and Mr Cristiano Bacchini.Working group on Rules for Hybrid Processes, Expert Determination and Early Neutral EvaluationMembers: Ms Maija Tipaine, Ms Lina Mickiene and Mr Pierfrancesco Fasano.The meeting laid a solid foundation for the Expert Committee’s work, highlighting the importance of collaboration and the establishment of clear guidelines for PMAC’s activities. The Expert Committee will now develop draft regulatory frameworks based on obtained benchmarking documents. Following the completion of the public consultation process, the draft rules and/or regulations will be submitted to the UPC Administrative Committee for final adoption.The next general meeting of the Expert Committee members is scheduled to take place in person on 8 April 2025 in Ljubljana.
