The Unified Patent Court appoints new legally qualified judges The Unified Patent Court is pleased to announce the appointment of three new legally qualified judges. We are pleased to welcome Ms Ulrike Voß and Mr Daniel Voß at the Local Division Munich. For Ms Ulrike Voß this appointment is in addition to her current appointment at Central Division Munich section. Additionally, we are pleased to welcome Mr Dirk Böttcher as newly appointed judge at Local Division Mannheim.The date when they will take up office will be announced at a later point of time.In response to the evolving caseload, the Presidium of the UPC has decided to make necessary adjustments to the working time of certain part-time judges. Judges at the following divisions of the Court of First Instance have been increased or will be increased in the coming months: Central Division Paris, Central Division Munich section, Local Division Düsseldorf, Local Division Munich, and Local Division Paris. In addition, the working time of some judges at the Court of Appeal has been increased.Florence Butin, President of the Court of First Instance emphasizes the importance of these adjustments: ”Over the past 10 months, we have observed a consistent rise in caseload, particularly in some of the divisions of the Court. It is important for the Presidium to ensure that UPC maintains the necessary capacity to manage this increase effectively.”
