Court Court of First Instance Judge Full Bio Hon. Paolo Catallozzi is currently a judge at the Supreme Court of Italy, assigned to the first civil chamber, and ordinarily deals with cases in the field of intellectual property and competition law, as well as banking, corporate and bankruptcy law. Paolo has been appointed as legally qualified judge of Unified Patent Court, assigned to the Paris central division. Previously he has been a judge at the Enterprise Court of First Instance of Rome, where he dealt with intellectual property and competition law proceedings, as well as with other business law cases, and, earlier, at other district courts where he primary dealt with civil law proceedings; he also had a stint at legislative offices of Italian ministries (Cabinet of ministers) where he cooperated in government activities. Paolo has been a member of Enlarged Board of Appeal of the European Patent Office from 2021 to 2023. He regularly cooperates with Italian School of Magistrates, ERA, EJTN and European Commission on judicial training programs. Paolo has been a teacher at post graduated law schools, has several publications on intellectual property and enterprise law and has been a speaker at many conferences on those subjects, in Italy and abroad. He is a regular participant at judges’ forums organized by World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and European Patent Office (EPO). He is a member of the Circle of European Trademark Judges and of the Association of European Competition Law Judges.
