Professional Experience in Intellectual Property After first experiences in public research laboratories, Bertrand Cochet joined the European Patent Office in 1998, where he worked until 2008. As a European patent examiner who regularly chaired Examining Divisions, he was in charge of the examination of numerous European patent applications and took part in opposition proceedings, in the field of Telecommunications. He then joined a major French Intellectual Property law firm, where he qualified and acted as a French and European patent attorney specialized in the fields of Electricity, Electronics and Telecommunications. In that position, he represented very diverse clients in examination, opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office. Since 2011, he has been working as a European patent attorney in the Intellectual Property department of a multinational telecommunications service provider. In his current position, besides various patent portfolio related activities and representation before the European Patent Office, he has been involved in several patent litigation cases during the last decade. Education Bertrand Cochet is a graduate from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications of Paris and holds a Research Master’s degree (D.E.A.) in Electronics from the Pierre et Marie Curie University of Paris, as well as a Master’s degree (Maîtrise) in Private Law from the Panthéon-Sorbonne University of Paris.
