Court Court of Appeal Judge Full Bio Francoise Barutel graduated from Sciences Po Paris with a master's degree in private law and a master's degree from ESSEC Business School. She joined the Judiciary in 1997 after ten years in marketing and sales' departments of private companies.Since 2004, she carried out functions mainly in the civil and commercial litigation.In 2014, she was appointed as Vice-President of the Paris Court of First Instance, specialising in intellectual property law, with a national exclusive jurisdiction in patent cases.In 2019, Françoise Barutel was appointed at the Paris Court of Appeal, in the intellectual property Chamber of the Economic and Commercial Division, ruling on appeals against decisions of the French industrial property Office (INPI) and having exclusive national jurisdiction in patent cases.Françoise Barutel was a lecturer in « Introduction to law » at Sciences Po Paris (2002-2004). She has taken part in workshops organised in Alicante (EUIPO) and Munich (EPO). She attended the European Judges' Forum in Venice. She contributed to several conferences on the practice of mediation in intellectual property litigations.She was an external legally qualified member of the Enlarged Board of Appeal of the European Patent Office.
