Opening of the Milan (IT) section of the central division
The Milan (IT) section of the central division of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) will officially open its doors on 27 June 2024
We are pleased to announce that, as of 27 June 2024, the UPC’s Milan (IT) section of the central division will officially open its doors. This follows the Decision of the Administrative Committee under Article 87 (2) of the Unified Patent Court Agreement (UPCA) dated 26 June 2023, which amends the Agreement to establish a central section in Milan.
As of 27 June 2024, cases before the central division will be distributed in accordance with Annex II of the UPCA, as amended by Article 1 paragraph 2 of the Decision of the Administrative Committee dated 26 June 2023.
According to this amendment, the new Milan section of the central division will handle cases pertaining to IPC class A (Human Necessities) without Supplementary Protection Certificates.
